About Us
Founded in 2008, My Sister’s Lighthouse non-profit Organization provides information, skills, and support to people living in violence. We bring awareness about the effects that domestic violence & sexual abuse has on women and their families. Recognizing the need for these services, My Sister’s Lighthouse started with one group located in Newark, New Jersey, and two volunteer staff members.
We are designing programs that will build positive behaviors for males and females, to keep true to our mission of breaking the silence of domestic violence and sexual assault. Since family violence is a complicated problem and people living in violent households often experience a variety of other problems, such as drug and alcohol, addiction, mental health issues, and unemployment. One of My Sister’s Lighthouse’s greatest accomplishments is rooted in how well we work with other Organizations to achieve our mission. It is our goal to work closely with other agencies to avoid duplication of services so that we will be able to provide the appropriate resources by implementing intervention and prevention to the people so that our mission will increase mental and spiritual strength.
